Stud Poker Variations To Play
Stud poker has several variants. In stud poker the one thing that rings true is having a number of cards dealt face down and face up during the different betting rounds. You also have the person who bets change from round to round. In other words the first player to bet is not always to the left of the dealer. It is usually the player whose face up cards makes the best hand to be played at the time.
The face down cards are called hole cards. In stud poker you could have as many as 4 hole cards in the game or as minimal as two. Five- card stud was the first popular game of stud poker. This game used five cards to get the win. Usually all five are dealt to each player with up and down cards. 7- card stud is a variation that is most common today.
In 7- card stud a player is usually dealt a couple of cards and the rest are laid on the table for universal cards. This allows the players to see potential hands of other players and bet based on their two to four hole cards during the game.
In stud poker you are not allowed to exchange any cards in your hand or on the table. In other words what is dealt is what you have to play with in the final round. Typically a game today will have no limit or a pot limit play. This just means the amount you are able to bet during a game. The rules will vary from casino to casino, and from game to game. The most popular stud poker is Texas Holdem. Texas Holdem is typically the game played in tournaments such as the World Series of Poker, but is not always played.
