Top 3 Texas Holdem Poker Beginners Mistakes
You dont have to play every hand:
This is the number one mistake I see almost all-new Texas holdem poker players make; they play every single hand and barley ever fold. You cant just play every hand, unless your getting premium hands every deal, your probably getting some garbage. Playing more hands, especially bad ones, will only result in you losing your money. A good way to figure out what hands you should play is by referring to a Texas holdem starting hand chart; itll tell you what hands you should play and which ones you should fold. Theyre just suggestions but every starting Texas holdem poker play should refer to these charts. As you get more experienced you can adjust the hands to your liking.
Dont bluff for any apparent reason:
I know, I know; bluffing is fun and pulling off a bluff is very rewarding but that doesnt mean you have to bluff for no reason. A lot of beginners know that bluffing is a large part of poker, so they naturally assume that you must bluff randomly and constantly to win (not true). Bluffs only work when you understand the situation and know the players you are going up against. There are many factors that go into making a proper Texas holdem poker bluff. Make sure you read up on when to bluff and the different types of bluffs before you go pushing all your money into the pot with seven deuce off-suit.
Dont tilt:
Probably the biggest reason we lose all our money; tilting is when you play on emotions (angry, sad, annoyed, frustrated). Lets say you just took a extremely bad beat or theres a player who you really hate and want to bust out of the game, sometimes this anger and hate will affect how you play. Playing on tilt will result in you making some bad decisions and will alter your playing style for the worse. Most pros attribute their success to two things: making correct decisions and not playing on tilt. Trust me, Ive fallen victim to awful tilt play countless times in my poker career, and let me tell you, its not fun. Next time you feel yourself getting angry and on the verge of going on tilt, just get up and take a few hands off, once youve cooled down you can return to the table. Losing a few blinds is a lot better than losing your entire stack! Good luck in all of your Texas Holdem poker journeys!
