Multi-tabling In Virtual Poker
Playing multi-tables is one of the most utilised advantages of virtual poker. There are two reasons for this, the first and most obvious is the logistics of playing multi-tables in virtual poker as opposed to land based traditional poker, and the second is the quick style of play in virtual poker lends its hand to playing multi-tables.
One of the main reasons to give multi-tabling a go is if you are winning at low limit virtual tables your income will be relatively small. To increase their bankroll many players will move to a higher limit table without taking into consideration the differences in player behaviour at different limit tables. This can lead to a disastrous losing streak and therefore have the opposite to the desired effect. However, playing multi-tables at the same limit will of course increase your bankroll according to the number of tables you have open in front of you.
Playing at more than one table at one time may seem like a daunting and impossible feat, however, there are a number of strategies which make the process more manageable in virtual poker. The first consideration is how many tables (if more than one at all!) your particular site allows you to play. Of course if your site does not meet your requirements there are plenty of competitor sites out there who will! The other important factor is how long your site gives you to make a decision. When you start out at playing multi-tables in virtual poker you need to ensure you have enough time to make a decision before the system automatically folds your hand for you. Players should avoid biting off more than they can chew and it is also important to note that as you build up to playing more and more tables, you may need a little longer to play each hand. Some players will play 10 tables at once.
When players choose the type of virtual poker game they are going to play at multi-tables it is worth remembering that tournaments are easier than ring games as you dont need to watch the action so carefully. If you are playing two tournaments at the same time, arrange it so they are playing at different levels at different times. That way you will be folding in one tournament most of the time therefore leaving you more time to make better decisions in the other tournament.
This rule can also be applied for cash games where players should ensure they are sitting in a different position relative to the blinds on each table they play. This way they will not be asked to make a bet at the two tables at the same time.
Players should also establish if the poker room allows you to resize your windows. This may be acceptable if you have 2 tables on your screen but its possible with more than 2 tables that the image and font sizes become too difficult for you to read. Its important that you are comfortable so it may be the case that a bigger monitor or more than one monitor is needed.
Most importantly of all, ensure you are completely comfortable with virtual poker, and the particular game you are playing before embarking on multi-tabling.
